Our holiday house Socrates is located in a very quiet area. The beach is in walking distance, only 400 metres away. There are several shops such as big Greek grocery stores near our house. In Katerini there are also German grocery stores such as Lidl. There is a very good bakery just a few metres from the apartment house. In Katerini, you can find shops selling gold, fur and leather, so visitors have plenty of opportunities to shop.
There are several not-to-be-missed restaurants and cafes at Olympic Beach and we will happily recommend our favourites. Socrates Apartments are also located near several travel agencies, a scooter hire shop and an internet café. A bit further away, you will find Paralia (4 km) and the second largest city of Greece, Thessaloniki (70 km).
Arrival airport is ‘Macedonia’ in Thessaloniki. The airport is located 92 km northeast of Olympic Beach. Many airlines including “low-cost airlines” fly to Thessaloniki.
LONG-DISTANCE
From the airport, you can take a taxi to reach Olympic Beach. The taxi ride costs approximately 85, – Euro.
Different car rental services are available at Thessaloniki Airport. We would advise you to make your reservation in advance.
Take the E90 road, direction Katerini. Leave the motorway at the exit Katerini / Alexandria. Turn left on Katerini / Alexandria road. At the roundabout, take the second street left and keep left on Chatzoglou / Eikostis Ogdois Oktovriou road. Turn right, then left, then after 150 meter turn right into Katerini / Olympiakis road. After 6 km turn right into Apollo Street and drive straight out until you reach our house. The trip takes about 1 hour 20 minutes.
From Thessaloniki airport there is an express bus to the center of Thessaloniki. The bus stops at the central railway station but also at the regional bus station KTEL. Bus company: OASTH (public transport company of Thessaloniki)

From the city centre of Thessaloniki, you can travel to Katerini by a regional bus or train. Buses leave every hour. The ride by bus takes 60 minutes. The ticket price is 5-10 Euro.
From the Thessaloniki train station there are Intercity and Regional Express trains leaving for Katerini. The ride takes 40 to 60 minutes. Prices are available at the point of sales.

For a more convenient way to reach us, you can also book our shuttle service. Our driver will pick you up at the airport and bring you safely to our house. The fixed price is 70 Euro per way (maximum of three passengers).
